NACO and the Nevada League of Cities held the first ever joint conference in Elko Nevada in 2003and have not held a joint conference since that time. They met to talk about forging new and lasting partnerships. Creation of these partnerships was established in effort to help build continuity and collaboration, to make local government more effective and to help foster public trust in local government entities.
“Ten years later, there is still a need and a desire to continue building these partnerships,” said Jeff Fontaine, Executive Director, NACO. “Both associations are looking forward to the opportunity to come together and reflect on the 10 years past and the future of local governments in Nevada,”
The conference will include discussions on Public Lands Issues, Finance, Infrastructure, The Affordable Care Act, Senior Services and Social Media. Key Note Speakers will include; Will Rogers, impersonator and professional historian, Meagan Johnson, Professional Humorist.
NACO was formed in Reno in 1924 under the name of Nevada County Commissioners’ Association. NACO is comprised of representatives from all 17 of Nevada’s counties, several statewide county associations called Affiliate Members, private industry representatives called Associate Members and Government Partners, statewide associations related to county government.
