Harrah's and Harveys Lake Tahoe donate $10,000 to new South Lake Tahoe recreation center

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The new South Lake Tahoe Recreation and Aquatics Center received a $10,000 donation from Harrah's and Harveys Lake Tahoe. The casinos said the contribution reflects their ongoing commitment to the well-being and growth of the community.

Inspired by the recent donations made by NBC and American Century Championship in honor of Tim and Stacy Wakefield, Harrah’s and Harveys, with Caesars Entertainment have pledged to match those donations, ensuring that the new recreation center is fully equipped to serve the community's needs.

"We are incredibly inspired by the spirit of giving that has been shown by others in support of the South Lake Tahoe Rec Center," said Karie Hall, senior vice president and general manager of Harrah's & Harveys Lake Tahoe. "Our donation reflects our commitment to fostering a vibrant, healthy community, and we are excited to be a part of this important project. We believe in the power of recreation to bring people together, and we are proud to contribute to a space that will benefit residents of all ages."

John Stark, director of Parks and Recreation for South Lake Tahoe, added, “We are truly grateful for this generous $10,000 donation from Harrah's and Harveys Lake Tahoe. This contribution for play space equipment will create an engaging environment for young children at the new Recreation and Aquatics Center, where they can explore, learn, and grow together."

The $10,000 donation from Caesars Entertainment will go towards play space equipment for early childhood programs.

"This donation is one of the many ways Harrah's and Harveys demonstrate their ongoing commitment to investing in the well-being of the surrounding communities, ensuring residents of all ages have access to exceptional recreational facilities and programs," said the casino properties in a statement.

The recreation center is currently under construction in the heart of South Lake Tahoe and is slated to be completed by January 2026. It will feature a six-lane swimming pool, a lazy river, multiple basketball courts and hoops, an upper-level track, meeting rooms, an outdoor event space, a commercial kitchen, and senior nutritional services. The donation in honor of the Wakefields is going toward batting cages.
