SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - School in South Lake Tahoe hasn't been held in-person since March due to the coronavirus pandemic. Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) will start the process of getting kids back into the classroom on Monday, October 12.
They will make the shift from Phase 1 to Phase 2 and a hybrid schedule with elementary students attending either Monday and Tuesday (Cohort A) or on Thursday and Friday (Cohort B), all days with a four-hour schedule. The rest of the time will be distance learning.
The current plans are for middle school students to return to a hybrid schedule on November 2, and the high school to begin labs and specialty classes on November 2 with hybrid school schedule starting November 30. The principal of the middle school will present his plans during the LTUSD Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, October l3. The high school principal will present her plans during the November 10 meeting.
A healthy Return
As the schools welcome you back to classrooms, LTUSD said they are ensuring the health and safety of all students and staff is a priority. Social Distancing and Health Screening Measures are in place. All students and staff in LTUSD are required to wear a face covering.
All students are required to remain 6 feet apart while on school campuses.
Most importantly they are asking parents to screen your child prior to going to school. Do not send your child to school and contact your school site if your child has had any of the following symptoms in the last 24 hours:
Fever Greater than 100.4
Nausea/Vomiting
Diarrhea
Headache
Cough
Congestion/Runny Nose
Sore Throat
Headache
Loss of Taste or Smell
Difficulty Breathing
Any child exhibiting these symptoms while at school will be sent home immediately. Please contact your school nurse if you have any questions.
Bus Schedules
There will be buses available for all students. To find your student's bus schedule, visit http://www.ltusd.org/cms/One.aspx?portalId=2738324&pageId=2836175.
Meals
LTUSD continues to provide free meals to all students Monday through Friday. Until November 2, the next phase, the schedule for meal busses can be found HERE.
Those at school will receive meals to take home on Tuesday or Friday, depending on their cohort. Buses will also distribute meals for all students each bus stop listed. Buses will depart the stops at designated times and move onto the next stop. If students or parents miss the delivery, they may pick up a lunch at the front of the South Tahoe Middle School between the hours of 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Bread and Broth 4 Kids will continue to distribute weekend bags of food as they have been, but the day of the week has changed. Since elementary students are in school with no classes on Wednesdays, the bags will be at the bus stops on Wednesdays or at South Tahoe Middle School on Fridays. Weekend food bags can also be picked up M-Th from Choices for Children’s office located at 1029 Takela Drive, Ste. #1
