Live Violence Free holding community rummage sale Saturday

Event Date:
October 16, 2021 - 8:00am

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Live Violence Free is holding a community rummage sale on Saturday, October 16 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to help raise funds for their efforts in supporting those affected by domestic violence in South Lake Tahoe. They have had many incredible items donated by the community and will have bargains furniture for every room in the house, winter sports equipment, kitchen appliances, home office equipment, clothing, children’s toys, bikes, clothing, and much, much more!

They’ll have free coffee, and fun activities to keep the kids entertained while you shop until you drop.

This year’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month theme is “Everyone Knows Someone”. This campaign strives to highlight how common domestic violence is and that it is more than physical violence. Unfortunately, our small community is no stranger to domestic violence. According to the 2021 Barton Health Community Health Needs Assessment, 22.1 percent of adults in our community acknowledge that they have been hit, slapped, pushed, kicked, or otherwise hurt by an intimate partner in their lives. This percentage is much higher than the national prevalence.

Live Violence Free is the sole provider offering services to those individuals and families suffering from abuse within the communities of South Lake Tahoe and Alpine County. We offer shelter, counseling, housing assistance, legal support, and advocacy for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse. All programs and staff are committed to providing culturally and linguistically responsive services, where victims are respected and empowered to make the best choices for themselves.

Live Violence Free is located at 2941 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe.
