Human Rights Campaign hosting South Lake Tahoe event

Event Date:
October 18, 2018 - 5:30pm

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The national Human Rights Campaign (HRC) is fighting for equality in the upcoming midterm elections and to gather support locally, no matter which side of the aisle one votes, an event is being held at Sidellis Brewery on Thursday, October 18 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

HRC is working with the ALLY clubs at both South Tahoe High School (STHS) and Lake Tahoe Community College to engage LGBTQ voices and mobilize pro-equality voters to hold lawmakers accountable.

A representative from HRC was in South Lake Tahoe recently and was "blown away by the grass roots activism in our little, rural town," said STHS ALLY advisor Bridey Heidel. "He couldn't believe the ALLY stuff was so institutionalized throughout the community!"

Thursday's event is a membership/fundraiser meeting. Sidellis is located at 3350 Sandy Way in South Lake Tahoe.

The Human Rights Campaign represents a force of more than 3 million members and supporters nationwide. As the largest national lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer civil rights organization, HRC envisions a world where LGBTQ people are ensured of their basic equal rights, and can be open, honest and safe at home, at work and in the community.
