Viking Corner: This Week at South Tahoe High

After a fun homecoming week, students of South Tahoe High School bare down for the upcoming week of midterms and testing. The fall sports season is coming to an end.

On Campus
Midterms are Thursday and Friday next week. Study labs are held after school for support and tutoring in different courses before the tests. Midterms mark the halfway point for the first term of the 2019-2020 year. The stress begins to increase, especially for the seniors.

“I believe midterms are made to be extremely stressful,” said senior Abrielle Bross. “We are judged in one department when people are intelligent in different things across the spectrum. I hope the school can make midterms less of a stressful time.”

The ACT is on October 26 and many seniors will rely on this score on their college applications, which are due next month.

Sports
The Vikings football team (2-5) play their last home game tonight at 7 p.m. against Big Valley Christian High School (2-0) on the STHS football field in a non-league game.

“I am excited to play with the seniors for the last time on the field,” said junior wide receiver Mason Hage. “I want to make a statement one last time on that field this year.”

The volleyball team (12-1) play their last away league game against Churchill County (4-7). Their game is at 6 p.m. Friday, October 18 in Fallon, NV. They have been neck and neck with Truckee (13-0) all season. Following them are Fernley (11-3) and Elko (10-5).
