Update - 1:20 a.m. 11/7/18: With a large voter turnout the processing of ballots is taking longer than normal. A power outage caused by a car hitting a power line near Blackwood Avenue caused some excitement for voters but did not delay the count as there are procedures in place for such an incident.
Here is a count with 100 percent of the precincts reporting, showing 4684 ballots were cast so far from the 10959 registered voters in the City of South Lake Tahoe, or 42.7 percent. Of the 20896 registerd voters in Area 5 of El Dorado Count (SLT, Pollock Pines, Tahoma), 9861 or 47.2 percent of registered voters have had ballots counted so far. It is unknown at this time how many voted.
A count of provisional and more mail-in ballots will continue through the week with daily updated election results.
