SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - After Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) leadership looked at current COVID-19 data they announced Monday they will not be shifting to the next learning phase and will remain in Phase 2.
In accordance with their Pandemic Educational Plan timeline, LTUSD concluded its assessment of the data and criteria required did not meet what was needed for a possible shift to the next phase. There has been a significant increase of COVID-19 cases over the past four weeks with 15 new cases over the weekend.
The next date scheduled to announce a possible advancement to Phase 3 is January 11, 2021 for a shift effective January 25, 2021.
All of the LTUSD elementary schools have officially been operating in hybrid learning environments since October 12 and South Tahoe Middle School since November 2.
"Staff and students have done an excellent job adhering to the health and safety protocols put in place at the school sites and we have been highly successful thus far. We wish to thank our partners at Barton Health and El Dorado County Public Health Department for their ongoing support, guidance, and expertise," said LTUSD Public Information Officer Shannon Chandler.
