SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) responded to the scene of a single-vehicle crash in the 700 block of Emerald Bay Road on Friday afternoon at 3:51 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle resting upside down on the road in front of Burger Lounge.

According to SLTPD Sgt. Nick Carlquist, the initial investigation shows the driver was headed northbound when he apparently failed to negotiate a curve, overcorrected and rolled the car. The male driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The age and hometown of the deceased has not been released.

Sgt. Carlquist said the preliminary investigation suggests speed and alcohol played a part in the crash.

The crash is still under investigation and this story will be updated when more details are released.

Carlquist said SLTPD was grateful for the assistance of the California Highway Patrol and El Dorado County Sheriff's Office.
