South Shore Transportation Management Association reactivated with new website, new focus

The nonprofit South Shore Transportation Management Association (SSTMA) has been reactivated to serve as a community forum for the advancement of transportation, transit and community mobility solutions.

It was formed originally in 1994 after a study was conducted to determine the most effective way to engage the private sector in transportation on the South Shore. Over the years its focus moved from the development of the Nifty Fifty trolley system to transportation initiatives and the formation of the Tahoe Transportation District.

The volunteer board of SSTMA has launched a new website, https://ss-tma.org/ to provide information, projects, links to local transit routes and schedules, traffic, road construction and webcams for real-time roadway updates. The new website is intended to direct the user to

“Building a user-friendly transportation resource for the community was a priority as the new board of directors considered its near-term plan of work,” said SSTMA Chairman Steve Teshara.

The new website is intended to direct the user to appropriate and official information sources.

“We hope the business community and residents find the website useful as a conduit to transportation information, from transit trip planning to official agency documents, and ultimately helps us support the larger goal of providing a robust transit plan for the south shore,” commented Communications Committee Chair, Gavin Feiger.

Besides Teshara and Feiger, the volunteer board is filled by Jerry Bindel, Mike Bradford, Carol Chaplin, Ami Chilton, Frank Gerdeman, Chris Proctor, Ryan Smith and Darcie Goodman, PhD.
