Compass opens new South Lake Tahoe real estate office

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Compass, Inc. has expanded real estate services into South Lake Tahoe with the opening of a new office in The Crossing at Tahoe Valley, 2028 Lake Tahoe Boulevard.

Twenty agents are joining the new South Lake Tahoe office. Compass also has other Tahoe offices in Incline Village, Truckee, Tahoe City, Squaw Valley. This year they have also launched 15 major new markets including North Carolina, Missouri, Indiana, and Minnesota.

As home prices and demand climb dramatically in the Lake Tahoe area the publicly traded real estate technology and services company decided to expand.

“When the pandemic hit and people were allowed to work from home, many people decided that Lake Tahoe was a great place to live with fresh air and plenty of outdoor activities,” said Tina Tinnell, sales manager for Compass South Lake Tahoe. “The luxury market has been more robust in the last year than I have seen in the 21 years I have been in real estate here. The trends in our market have been low inventory and high demand.”

The home inventory in South Lake Tahoe has dropped by about half over the last two years, with fewer than 200 active listings in October 2021 compared to nearly 400 active listings in October 2019, according to activity reported to the MLS. The median home sales price in South Lake Tahoe has gone up sharply from $482,500 in 2019 to $749,000 in 2021. However, South Lake Tahoe remains the most affordable housing market in the Tahoe region compared to North Tahoe/Truckee where median home prices are nearly double and Incline Village/Crystal Bay where median home prices are almost triple of those in South Lake Tahoe.
