South Lake Tahoe forecast: Possible rain/snow on Tuesday and weekend

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There will be a break between storms with a quiet weather pattern in place over the next couple of days, though the potential for morning fog remains at the beginning of the week. A weak weather system could bring light snow showers to the mountains from late Tuesday into Wednesday with a return of another atmospheric river system with high snow levels that could arrive by Friday.

For the long term, a few weather systems are forecast to pass through the region over the next two weeks. Besides the two already mentioned, two more systems should arrive around December 18 and 21. It is still too early to tell if they will be of the Atmospheric River variety or colder. Since that weekend is the kickoff of the holiday travel, driving over passes could be an issue. Stay tuned!
