Heavenly to Unveil Innovative DJ Cat This Week in South Lake Tahoe

Something new will be hitting the slopes at Heavenly Mountain Resort on Friday, and its not something to ski or board on.

Aaron Hagar, son of legendary musician Sammy Hagar and owner of Rat Runners Garage, has teamed with Heavenly to create a state of the art mobile DJ on what used to be a grooming machine.

“There is a reason we’ve been dubbed as the wild child of Vail Resorts. At Heavenly, we like to push the limits and do things a little different,” said Pete Sonntag, vice president and chief operating officer of Heavenly. “Teaming up with someone as creative as Aaron was a special treat, and we are absolutely blown away by what we were able to accomplish together between our teams. The end result will definitely surprise and delight people.”

The DJ Cat has custom built components that will provide sound through 52 speakers and 12,000 watts of QSC brand amps. Three remote controlled actuators open the doors and roof of the lightweight aluminum unit and a 55 inch flat screen television enhances the visual experience.

“The hardest part of this build is having to give it away!” said Aaron Hagar. “We want to keep it!"

Heavenly will unveil the DJ cat on Friday, December 27, 2013 outside Tamarack Lodge at the top of the Gondola at 1:00 p.m. with a special guest DJ appearance by Viola LaLa Mia. Throughout the season, guest DJs will spin tunes on the DJ cat.

The party will shift indoors at 3:30 p.m., as the Heavenly Angels host Unbuckle at Tamarack, North America’s No. 1 après ski party. With half-price drinks, food specials, swag, a live DJ and lots of dancing, Unbuckle is a great transition to a night out in South Lake Tahoe.

From the DJ cat to Unbuckle après parties featuring the lovely Heavenly Angels, Heavenly’s events exude high energy. On April 5, 2014, the second annual High Roller Hold ‘Em event will take place on World Cup run.

Infusing an X Games-worthy big air competition with a little South Lake Tahoe casino gambling twist, High Roller Hold ’Em features a monster big-air jump, a $50,000 jackpot and, new this year, a 2015 X Games Big Air event exemption for the overall winner.

Heavenly’s experiential campaign, Skyway to Heavenly, is going nationwide in 2014. Heavenly will host a party in Los Angeles at American Junkies on January 16 and in New York City on January 11. The resort will also partner with Maxim’s Super Bowl Party to bring the Skyway to Heavenly experience to New York City on February 1. A group of four lucky friends from each coast will win their own all-expenses paid ski and party trip of a lifetime to Heavenly.
