The audience laughs and then the actors do it again, and the audience laughs again…you get the picture. And so it will go during a night of improvisation theater with Tahoe Improv Players at the Tallac Historic Site on July 3 at 7:30pm.
The Tahoe Improv Players, the longest running comedy show in Lake Tahoe, return to their favorite theater for the 15th summer.

The event is called Ride the Wild Sierra, with the start and finish at Turtle Rock Park in Markleeville, Calif.
Build Your Own Challenge, Kid Carson Challenge, Wild Sierra Century and the 8 Pass Challenge “The World’s Toughest Double Century” all take place June 30, 2012.
Lake Tahoe and Truckee are full of avid cyclists who love a good challenge so Alta Alpina created this new cycling event just for you. Ouch!
Work begins on the Upper Truckee River and High Meadows projects

On Monday, June 25, 2012, the Forest Service began constructing the staging area for the Upper Truckee River Reach 5 restoration project that will begin in 2013, at the former Sunset Stables site.
The work, which will continue for approximately two weeks, includes the installation of an approximately two acre aggregate base pad, which is designed to prevent the spread of noxious weeds into the project area.

The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management unit reminds folks that having fireworks of any kind — and sparklers are considered fireworks — is illegal in the Lake Tahoe Basin. Campfires are not permitted on Forest Service beaches or in the general forest. For Wednesday, July 4, 2012, only, personal barbecues are allowed at Nevada, Pope and Baldwin beaches but are not permitted on any other Forest Service beaches or in the general forest.

An earthquake on Friday night was reported at 8:51 p.m. centered 6 miles north of Incline Village at Lake Tahoe, registering a preliminary magnitude of 4.2, according to the Seismological Laboratory at the University of Nevada, Reno and the USGS. Go here for updates. The magnitude is preliminary.

Tahoe City-based Truckee River Rafting opened Tuesday, June 12. Truckee River Raft Company, also in Tahoe City, opens today, Thursday, June 14. The companies offer self-guided, five-mile floats down the Truckee River.
