Beaches start to open around Lake Tahoe this weekend

LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. - As summer approaches, beaches and other recreational sites around Lake Tahoe are starting to open. Hazard tree removal could delay opening in any of the areas though crews are working as quickly as possible to clean up areas that experienced winter damage. Part of the opening process includes the United States Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU) completing the seasonal hiring of crews and staff to manage sites and waiting for the danger of a freeze to pass before turning on water systems for restrooms.
