SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – In the middle of Friday’s snowstorm, a woman driving a Prius at a high rate of speed in adverse conditions, led the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in a pursuit that began in the eastbound lane of US50 near Sierra-at-Tahoe and ended in a head-on collision at the chain control area in Meyers.

On Friday, January 3, reports of the Prius being driven at unsafe speeds and passing other vehicles in the opposing lane of traffic were received by law enforcement. CHP began the pursuit of the Prius, being driven by Lisa Anne Alestri, 63.

Traffic at this time was heavy, with multiple crashes and reports of cars being stuck along the highway

The pursuit ended when Alestri hit a westbound SUV head-on at the chain control area in Meyers. Five people in the SUV had what is reported as minor injuries. Alestri was not injured and was arrested.

She is currently in the El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe on a $403,000 bail hold. Her charges include:

DUI alcohol: Causing bodily injury [Felony] Bail: $150000
Obstruct/resist/etc. public/peace officer/emergency med tech [Misdemeanor] Bail: $3000
Obstruct/resist exec officer – Aggravated [Felony] Bail: $25000
Evade peace officer with wanton disregard for safety [Felony] Bail: $75000
DUI any drug: cause bodily injury [Felony] Bail: $150000
