Meadow After Dusk by Craig Newman

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) is opening an exhibition in the Haldan Gallery that will feature art from 22 alumni created over the past 30 years. The exhibit will run from January 24 through April 18 and is open to the public.

This exhibition features a curated selection of alumni works from those who learned from art faculty including Phyllis Shafer, David Foster, Dave Russo, Catherine Church, Kristin Boles, Pat Leonard Heffner, Jim Grant, Amy Hackleman, and Bryan Yerian.

“In my 17 years as full-time faculty, Art Department Chair, and now Gallery Director, it is an honor to have aided many of these artists in their journey, watched them become professional artists, and now to invite them to show their work in this exhibition,” said Yerian. “As a department, I believe we share the same philosophy in our classes—prioritizing a strong foundation in technical skill and work ethic while simultaneously encouraging individual growth and exploration. As educators, we have a unique opportunity to share our love, enthusiasm, and passion for art that I hope inspires our students to continue their art practice beyond our studios with the
knowledge and capability to succeed in whatever they pursue.”

The alumni artists are from different mediums. They include Elizabeth Vargas, Brianda Ortega, Shiloh Flood, Karl Schwiesow, Hannah Fridholm, Craig Newman, Jill Miller-Allert, Les Allert, joSon, Ken Bodner, Gretchen Schilling, Grace Webber, Carly Petrie, Adrienne Belair, Simone Sannazzarro, Mike Herron, Madeleine Olmer, Theresa Souers, Jeff Wade, Miles Hall, Paula Chung, Charlotte Castillo, and Pat Leonard-Heffner.
