FIS Freeride World Tour (FWT) Baqueira Beret by Movistar started the season off in a big way with huge cliff drops, big air, and a loud and vibrant 3,000-person crowd who enjoyed the show under sunny blue skies. The Tuc de Bacivèr, the dynamic west-facing slope face and a Spanish Pyrenees legend, delivered competition-ready snow and technical line choices for this first stop of the Tour.

Truckee resident Mia Jones took first today in the first Freeride World Tour (FWT) 2026 competition of the season and her first-ever FWT Pro competition. Her father, legendary snowboarder and Truckee local Jeremy Jones, was also there, cheering her on from the large crowd at the Spanish Pyrenees, Baqueira Beret venue.

Other Lake Tahoe and Truckee athletes performed well, and we expect to see exciting runs from them all season, including Molly Armanino (Ski Women), Ross Tester (Ski Men), and Shayne Blue Sandblom (Snowboard Men). Pretty cool that there’s one Lake Tahoe athlete in all four FWT categories competing on the circuit that runs January into April 2026.
