STRAWBERRY, Calif. – The California Highway Patrol (CHP) from Placerville is reporting that a male adult was killed in a single vehicle collision on Wednesday on US50 near the Wright’s Lake turnoff.

Details are still under investigation but the preliminary reports say the male driver of a Toyota Tacoma was traveling eastbound when he left the roadway and hit a boulder well off the highway just before 1 p.m.

He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

CHP says they do not have the name or age of the deceased to release at this time. They are investigating why the Toyota left the roadway as conditions were not icy and it was a sunny and clear day.
