The 2015 FIS Freeride World Tour by Peak Performance began with an adrenaline-filled opening event at the Baqueira Beret Pro by Movistar, hosted on the spectacular new La Bamba face. Nestled in the heart of the Spanish Pyrenees, Baqueira Beret has long been celebrated for its world-class terrain. With a stunning mix of steep gradients, challenging couloirs, and natural freestyle features, La Bamba delivered all of the ingredients for an electrifying showcase of freeride talent.
53 of the world’s top freeride athletes competed in the Baqueira Beret Pro on Jan. 17, 2025.
Ross Tester of Palisades Tahoe lead the men on La Bamba with first place in skiing. For women, South Lake Tahoe’s Molly Armanino, who skis out of Kirkwood, placed sixth, followed by Tahoe City’s Lily Bradley from Palisades Tahoe in eighth, and Britta Winans of Truckee in eleventh.
On the snowboarding side of things, Tilden Wooley of Palisades Tahoe, took tenth in the men’s race.
ROSS TESTER – First Place (Ski Men) with 92.67 points
The Ski Men category saw show-stopping performances from the world’s best freeride skiers, with USA’s Ross Tester emerging victorious with a jaw-dropping performance. Returning to the Freeride World Tour after a hiatus, Tester delivered a flawless run that blended exceptional technical skills, creative line choices, and flawless execution of big tricks. His highlights included a massive backflip, a perfectly executed 360 grab, and seamless control through the steep, variable terrain of La Bamba.
“The run was just fun today, that was the goal to start…Once I got on (the course) it felt really good and it all came together nice. I’m stoked on this venue.” – Ross Tester, Baqueira Beret Pro by Movistar Ski Men winner
TOBY RAFFORD – Second Place (Ski Men) with 92.33 points
Toby Rafford, a rookie and reigning champion of the Challenger Series in Region 2, delivered an impressive performance in his debut Freeride World Tour run. Taking second place in his first competition, he brought the style with a massive flat 360, a daring double flat spin, and fluid transitions across challenging terrain. Rafford’s creative line choice, technical mastery, and unparalleled style set him apart. His ability to combine high-risk freestyle tricks with clean landings and fluid skiing underscored his potential as a rising star on the tour. His debut performance was both thrilling and technically impeccable, leaving an indelible impression.
CHLOE HEHRIR – Fourth Place (Ski Women) with 67.67 points
A rookie from Ophir, Colorado, Chloe showcased her technical skill and composure in her Freeride World Tour debut. Starting with a confident line choice, Hehir moved smoothly through complex features and kept her momentum in the fall line. Her ability to stick to her visual inspection plan, even in such steep and exposed conditions, was evident as she executed clean turns and managed her speed effectively. In the lower section, Hehir encountered an issue on a sidehill traverse when a tip caught in the crusty snow, causing her to lose balance and a pole. Despite this, she recovered quickly and maintained control, skiing strongly to the finish line and showcasing incredible potential for the 2025 season.
