SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The CAL FIRE Amador-El Dorado Unit (AEU) has announced the promotion of Doug Grandbois to battalion chief, serving as Battalion 2726 in South Lake Tahoe, effective February 2.

Doug began his fire service career as a volunteer firefighter with the Jackson Valley Fire Protection District. In 2001, he joined CAL FIRE as a heavy fire equipment operator in the Mendocino Unit and later transferred to the Butte Unit. He arrived at AEU in 2004, where he served at both the El Dorado and Sutter Hill stations. In 2016, Doug accepted a Training and Development assignment as a fire captain and two years later was promoted permanently to fire captain at Pine Grove Camp. There, he served in multiple roles, including crew captain, training captain, and administrative captain.

Throughout his career, Doug has demonstrated a strong commitment to CAL FIRE’s mission through his involvement on numerous cadres and committees, including Hired Equipment, Safety, and Standards. He also served as a member of Incident Management Team 1 as a Hired Equipment Technical Specialist. Doug holds ICS qualifications as Dozer Boss, Strike Team Leader for Engines, Crews, and Dozers, and Division/Group Supervisor Trainee.

Born and raised in Amador County, Doug resides in Jackson with his wife.
