ALPINE COUNTY, Calif. – Early Sunday morning at 1:30 a.m., deputies from the Alpine County Sheriff’s Office in Bear Valley responded to the call of a person with life-threatening injuries near the Condo Bear Condos.

Emergency Medical Services transported the injured person to a nearby hospital where they remain in critical condition.

Upon investigation, it was determined the unidentified injured person was a victim of a brutal physical assault.

On Tuesday, January 28, investigators interview Jorden James Gaestel, 39, of Gardnerville, Nev. At the conclusion of the interview, Gaestel was arrested for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and mayhem.

Gaestel was transported to the El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe, where he was booked on the above charges with no bail available at this time.
