DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. – The Douglas County Community Services Foundation has announced its support for the development of a Cultural and Performing Arts Community Center through a $62,500 donation toward the project’s master planning phase. The donation, paired with a matching $62,500 contribution from the Carson Valley Arts Council, will fund the creation of comprehensive master planning documents for this important community asset.
The Douglas County Board of Commissioners formally accepted both donations and approved a $125,000 contract with Tate Snyder Kimsey Architects, Ltd. to lead the master planning process for the Cultural and Performing Arts Community Center.
“This investment reflects our Foundation’s commitment to enhancing quality of life, economic vitality, and community connection through arts and culture,” said Renea Louie, chairwoman of the Douglas County Community Services Foundation. “This project has been a shared vision for years, and the Foundation Board has committed to its success and from aspiration to reality.”
Community Services Director Brook Adie convened a multidisciplinary stakeholder review team representing key county departments and community partners. Following a thorough evaluation of submissions and structured interviews, the team identified Tate Snyder Kimsey Architects, Ltd. as the preferred firm to enter into contract negotiations.
The Cultural and Performing Arts Community Center represents a long-standing priority for Douglas County, consistently affirmed through multiple planning efforts, including the 2013 Valley Vision, 2018 Minden and Gardnerville Plan for Prosperity, 2020 Douglas County Master Plan, and the 2024 Strategic Plan.
The master planning process will establish a detailed framework to guide future development, investment, and implementation—ensuring the project reflects community values, needs, and aspirations.
Funding for the master planning effort is fully supported by the combined $125,000 in donations from the Carson Valley Arts Council and the Douglas County Community Services Foundation. All expenditures will be tracked under a dedicated project number assigned by the Finance Department to ensure transparency and accountability throughout the project.
