ALPINE COUNTY, Calif. – The Markleeville Water Company has notified Alpine County that there will be a system-wide water shutdown affecting all Markleeville water customers on:
Monday, February 2, 2026
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
This shutdown is necessary to complete the tie-in of a new pump station, a critical infrastructure improvement that will enhance the long-term reliability and sustainability of the Markleeville water system. Markleeville Water Company recognizes this will be a significant inconvenience and appreciates the community’s patience as this important work is completed.
Public Facilities & Services During the Shutdown
To help minimize impacts to residents:
- Alpine County offices in Woodfords (Community Development, Health & Human Services, and Behavioral Health Services) will remain open and will have restroom access available to the public.
- Turtle Rock Park (TRP) will also be available as an option for county services and restroom access. Please contact the specific office for availability and location of services. Contact information can be found here – www.alpinecountyca.gov
- Some County administrative offices located at the 99 Water St. facility (Clerks, Assessors & Finance) may be operating with limited staffing or from alternate locations for the day. Additionally, portable water stations and bathroom facilities will be onsite.
If additional notices are provided by the Markleeville Water Company, Alpine County will distribute this information as it becomes available.
