SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) arrested a local man after a head-on collision at Glenwood Road and Fairway Avenue Friday night.
At 10:55 p.m. on January 30, SLTPD responded to the collision between two vehicles. The driver of the car, who was determined to be at fault, fled the scene on foot, while the other driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
SLTPD Lt. Scott Crivelli said officers located the fleeing driver, Miguel Angel Rodriguez Franco, at his nearby residence. Crivelli said the suspect admitted to driving and fleeing from the scene. Rodriquez Franco was arrested for Felony DUI and Felony Hit and Run. The suspect had some injuries from the crash, so SLTPD transported him for treatment and then to the El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe for booking once medically cleared early Saturday morning.
Bail has been set at $2,000,000 due to Rodriquez Franco being on federal probation and for what Crivelli said is the suspect’s violent criminal history. Officers sought a bail enhancement due to these issues, and that was authorized by a judge.
