SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Slick roads through the Sierra on both sides of the state line have led to a few crashes, including one fatal crash on I580 in the Washoe Valley.

As of 10:30 a.m. Friday, US50 traffic is backing up at Twin Bridges due to a collision that is currently being listed as involving three vehicles and a pedestrian. Law enforcement is currently at the scene.

Also on Friday, the California Highway Patrol responded to a vehicle that went off the road near Chiapa Drive. There were no injuries.

On Friday morning, according to the Nevada State Police, firefighters with Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue had responded to a crash on the Galena Creek Bridge on I580 when a vehicle traveling northbound lost control and struck the back of the fire truck on the scene. Ice and excessive speed contributed to the crash, NSP said. The driver died at the scene and traffic flow will be impacted as the investigation continues.

The storm is exiting the region and the weekend will be clear, though chilly. Lows will be 10-12 degrees at lake level, in the high 30s during the day.
