The NFL season is wrapping up with the big game on Sunday – Super Bowl LIX (59). The Kansas City Chiefs will be looking for their third championship in a row, while the Philadelphia Eagles look for revenge after losing to the Chiefs two years ago.

Part of the Super Bowl fun for many is making bets on the game, with this weekend a big draw for people to head to Lake Tahoe and stop at the sportsbooks. The Chiefs were at -1.0 Thursday though other regions have had the Chiefs at -1.5 since the odds were posted. The Harveys team said they are seeing more money on the Chiefs, keeping the line low.

The over/under is 49, with a money line of -110 on both sides of that number, meaning if the total score of the game is under 49, or over 49, you would gain $100 on a $110 bet.

Nevada sportsbooks have a history of losing when the Eagles are playing.  Ashley Duke, the marketing manager at Harrah’s and Harveys, said, “Eagle fans are very proud fans. They bet a lot and really get behind their team.”

Some crazy bets are made during the Super Bowl, most having to do with the game including who wins the coin toss, how many touchdowns the offensive players will have, and how many yards, or if field goals will be missed. One can even bet on what color Gatorade will be dumped on the winning coach, or none at all, and if Travis Kelce will propose to Taylor Swift (a “yes” is +800 odds).

Duke said the Superbowl brings out all the big money and crazy bets. “One person had multiple thousands on one team one year and at half time he didn’t like how the team he bet on was playing so he put multiple thousands on the other team,” said Duke. “At the end of the game, both of his tickets ended up being a push. He won nothing and lost nothing after betting crazy amounts of money.”

The action isn’t all at the sportsbooks, there are also special viewing parties at local bars and restaurants. The Loft is holding a special party in its 107-seat stadium-style theater starting at 2:30 p.m. The Tahoe Tavern & Grill will have food and drink specials, along with a raffle. Riva Grill also has large screens and specials. Each of the casinos has a few parties going on throughout the day and nearby Margaritaville will be hosting the same. Steamers Bar and Grill will have food and drink specials along with a raffle. Check out Classic Cue, The Woods, McPs, Audible’s Sports Bar & Grill, Libation Lodge, South Lake Brewing, and any of your other favorite watering holes.

The game starts at 3:30 p.m. but the pregame shows will be going all day. The game will be played at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.
