SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The City of South Lake Tahoe, in partnership with the South Tahoe Parks Foundation, has announced a generous donation of $30,000 from the Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe in support of the new Recreation and Aquatics Center. This second contribution will secure the naming rights of two gymnasium scoreboards, honoring a long-time Kiwanis member while supporting the new facility.
With this latest contribution, the Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe has donated $50,000 to the Recreation and Aquatics Center. Their initial $20,000 donation was presented at the April 22, 2025, City Council meeting.
The naming of the scoreboards will preserve the legacy of long-time Kiwanis member, Bob Baunhauser, with one scoreboard featuring “In Memory of Bob Baunhauser” and the other displaying “Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe”.
“The Kiwanis Club of Lake Tahoe has a long-standing tradition of giving back to our community, and their commitment to sponsor the naming of the gymnasium scoreboards is a meaningful and lasting investment in this facility,” said John Stark, director of Parks and Recreation. “The naming recognition will honor a community member whose impact continues to be felt.”
The City and the South Tahoe Parks Foundation invite individuals, families, and organizations to contribute to the new Recreation and Aquatics Center through donations, sponsorships, and naming opportunities. All funds will support critical facility needs, including equipment, furnishings, and scholarship access, helping to ensure the Recreation Center serves the entire community.
