SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – This week’s storm finally produced some lake-level snow, prompting closures of schools and some roads. A little snow is possible throughout the day with the Winter Storm Watch expiring at 10 p.m.

As of 8 a.m. Friday:

Lake Tahoe Unified, Tahoe Truckee Unified School District, Incline Village and Zephyr Cove Elementary are closed.

Mt. Rose Highway (SR431) is closed

SR89 around Emerald Bay is closed

SR88 is closed near Woodfords due to a crash near Crystal Springs and spinouts

SR88 is closed from 3.5 mi east of Silver Lake to Kirkwood /Carson Spur

I80 is closed o all tractotr-semitrailer combinations from Applegate (Placer Co) to the Nevada State Line – Due to multiple spinouts

Expect chain controls on all other mountain highways as crews work to clear the snow.
