SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Join staff to discuss the incorporation of the South “Y” Industrial Tract into the Tahoe Valley Area Plan (TVAP) on Wednesday, February 18 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The open house will be held at the South Lake Tahoe Public Works Department at 1740 D Street. Light refreshments will be provided. This is a come-and-go event, so stop by when you can.
The South “Y” Industrial Tract Community Plan was first adopted in March of
2003 and most recently amended in May of 2008. This area generally includes all
properties south of D Street, between Industrial Avenue and Lake Tahoe Boulevard, including all properties accessed from Shop Street and Industrial Avenue. The Community Plan was established to encourage industrial-type commercial uses and public services to relocate to the South “Y” Industrial Tract. Today, the City has experienced a shift in commercial trends, and the incentives outlined in the Community Plan have not been utilized as envisioned.
Adding the South “Y” Industrial Tract to the TVAP will allow for simplified regulations and increased redevelopment and property investment incentives. The existing districts of the TVAP will remain, though general cleanup of policies and development standards will be considered.
Policies, goals, and strategies for the South “Y” Industrial Tract will be revised to further promote sustainable business growth, reduce environmental impacts, and reflect community input.
Maps and graphics will be updated accordingly. Through this process, staff and stakeholders may consider slight changes to existing TVAP policies and development standards that are unclear or have presented unintended barriers to development.
The Open House will have the plans on display and staff will be able to answer any questions the public has.
