Ambulance can be seen heading east on US 50 as cars are backed up.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – As of 1:30 p.m. Monday, US 50 at Echo Summit is closed due to a crash near Johnson Pass. Traffic is being held at Twin Bridges and Meyers, though some cars were already on the summit when lanes in both directions were shut down.

At 12:45 p.,m., emergency responders were called to the scene due to a Chevy Suburban versus a pedestrian, and two minutes later, the call was for a collision between two vehicles. At this time, there is no further information.

The road will remain closed until the roadway can be cleared.
