SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The City of South Lake Tahoe has been made aware of a scam currently circulating using their name with a fake email account. The email will claim your application has been approved by the City’s Planning Department, and to complete the next steps by wiring money for application review, zoning, and administrative fees.
The email will ask for funds to be wired to a Wells Fargo Bank account.
These emails are coming from planning-dept.cityofsouthlaketahoe@usa.com. This is NOT a City email account. All official City emails end in @cityofslt.us or @cityofslt.gov
The City will never ask you to wire money.
Some of the documentation being shared may include the City seal and appear official, but these documents are fraudulent and falsified.
