SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – At approximately 2:15 p.m. on February 21, officers from the California Highway Patrol, South Lake Tahoe Police Department, and deputies from the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Sierra-at-Tahoe ski resort for a report of an active shooter.
Sierra-at-Tahoe staff were immediately notified of the potential threat and called law enforcement. Ski resort staff initiated internal protocols ensuring the safety of their guests. Once law enforcement arrived at the resort, it was quickly determined that the report was false.
The claim was unfounded, and law enforcement jas made contact with the party who called the sheriff’s dispatch center. At this time, there has been no reason given as to why the call was made.
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office wishes to thank its local law enforcement partners for their quick response and their commitment to the safety of our community and those who visit. They also wish to thank the staff of Sierra-at-Tahoe for their commitment to the safety and well-being of their guests.
