SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The public is invited to the next meeting of the South Lake Tahoe Planning Commission as they discuss both the Tahoe Valley and Tourist Core area plans. Feedback is important as the City starts looking at amendments to the plans.
The meeting will be held Thursday, February 23 at 3 p.m. in the City Hall-Council Chambers, 1901 Lisa Maloff Way. Zoom will also be available.
This is the first of multiple public hearings to gain feedback from stakeholders and the general public.
A topic at the forefront of State and City discussions is affordable housing. To accommodate affordable housing, increased allowable densities are proposed for multi-family developments in and around town centers.
The City is also pursuing partial exemptions to commercial floor area for outdoor dining to remove barriers to economic growth for local businesses. Areas where possible changes to allowed uses are being explored, as well as assessing if Area Plan boundaries should be adjusted to incorporate parcels with high development potential.
Other amendments, such as coverage exemptions for electric vehicle charging infrastructure, will aid the City in achieving its sustainability goals.
