EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. – Over 300 skiers and snowboarders from 29 different schools in California will head to the slopes of Sierra-at-Tahoe next week for the California Nevada Interscholastic Ski and Snowboard Federation (CNISSF) High School Championships. This marks a historic return of the race, as the last time Sierra hosted the event was in 1950.

Spectators are invited to attend the March 2-6 event to cheer on the athletes.

“We are honored to welcome the next generation of competitive high school ski and snowboard athletes to Sierra-at-Tahoe,” says Dan Healy, General Manager, Sierra-at-Tahoe. “Hosting the state championships after almost 75 years is a testament to our resort’s dedication to fostering young talent and celebrating the spirit of competition.”

Competitors will race in Giant Slalom and Slalom. The high school racers who qualify from six divisions across both states will compete for individual and team recognition. Sierra will welcome defending championship high school teams including Mammoth H.S. the 2024 SKI champions, North Tahoe H.S. the defending 2024 Snowboard champions, and, local favorite, El Dorado H.S. the three-time Ski & Snowboard combined champions.

South Tahoe High and Whittell High athletes will not be participating as their seasons ended Feb. 11-12 during the Tahoe Basin Ski League Championships at Kirkwood.
