SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Despite having no season in 2021, the Inversion Gym’s competition teams from South Lake Tahoe came back strong in early 2022, placing in competitions in Reno, Loomis, and Auburn. The kids have been thrilled about the chance to compete.
Last year, Inversion joined most extracurricular sports organizations that struggled to provide programs after the onset of the pandemic. Still, the Inversion coaches demonstrated their own strength and flexibility as they adapted their programs. Sometimes on zoom, sometimes in the gym with protocols to meet state and national mandates, the dedicated coaches kept the children working out, whether in the gym or out.
The hard work and perseverance paid off this season when the Inversion teams came home with first for the Gold Team and second for the Silver and Platinum Teams, out of 11 teams at the Flips Invitational in Reno on January 22 and 23. Then, the Gold and Platinum teams took first at the Masquerade Invitational in Loomis on February 5, with both Bronze and Silver Teams taking second. At the Miyagi Invitational on February 12 and 13, the Gold and Platinum teams took another first while the Bronze and Silver teams took second.
Inversion Booster’s Club President Lisa Collins said that it wasn’t just the dedication of the kids and staff that has made this program so strong, “It takes a village.”
The 59 local sponsors, along with the athletes’ families, made this season possible.
“It has been wonderful to see the girls really come together as a team and support one another during the competitions. They seem even closer than before,” Collins said. “Thank you to all our sponsors.”
