DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. –  Douglas County Commissioner Sharla Hales officially filed her candidacy for re-election Monday at 9:00 a.m. with the Douglas County Clerk, becoming the first candidate to file for the upcoming election cycle.

Commissioner Hales is seeking a second term representing District 2 on the Douglas County Board of Commissioners. Since first taking office, Hales has focused on fiscal responsibility, practical solutions to local challenges, and maintaining Douglas County’s rural character and quality of life.

As a board member of the South Shore Transportation Management Association, Hales worked to expand Lake Link service to all areas south of Cave Rock by 2027. She has also served on the board of the Tahoe Transportation District, working to improve transportation service for residents.

Hales will hold a Town Hall at the Kahle Community Center on March 12 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss community concerns and hear directly from residents.

“It is an honor to serve the residents of Douglas County,” Hales said. “I look forward to continuing the work we’ve started and delivering responsible, results-oriented leadership for our community.”

The upcoming election will determine representation for District 2 on the Board of County Commissioners for the next four-year term.
