SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Another storm front will be passing over the Sierra Nevada Wednesday and Thursday, with another one on the horizon for next week. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Lake Tahoe Basin from 4 a.m. Wednesday to 10 p.m. Thursday. Snow accumulations between 2 to 6 inches are expected below 7000 feet and 6 to 12 inches above 7000 feet. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph over the highest peaks.
Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

A slight chance of rain and snow between 1 pm and 4 pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 46. Southwest wind around 5 mph. The chance of precipitation is 20%.

Snow, possibly mixed with rain, mainly after 4 am. Snow level 6500 feet. It’s low, around 27. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
Wednesday
Snow. A high near 40. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.
Wednesday Night
Snow. The low will be around 18. Southwest wind around 5 mph. The chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.
Thursday
There will be snow, mainly before 4 pm. A high near 34. West wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
Thursday Night
A 40 percent chance of snow before 10 pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 15. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
