SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The U.S. Forest Service is pile burning along Pioneer Trail today, March 6, between Black Bart Avenue and Al Tahoe Blvd. in South Lake Tahoe.

The project, Liberty 5025 Rx, is 2 acres that have had hand piles on them, waiting for burning. The planned ignition was Friday and could go through Sunday, with smoke possible for up to one week.

Smoke is expected to travel north to northeast, with areas affected by smoke to be Pioneer Trail/Al Tahoe Boulevard Corridors, Golden Bear Community, South Lake Tahoe Community and U.S. Highway 50 Corridor.
