SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Since 2019, the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe (HSTT) has been a lifeline for the South Lake Tahoe community, providing essential programs and services that make a difference in the lives of countless pets and their families. The organization’s South Lake Tahoe office has welcomed 1,309 visits to its pet pantry since January 2020, averaging 262 visits per year. However, to continue and expand these vital services, HSTT relies heavily on the generosity of donors, and we’re looking to our South Lake Tahoe community to support these programs.
The Constant Companion program offers an opportunity to transform lives each month. By becoming a monthly sustaining donor, you’re not just making a donation, you’re making a commitment to support local families and their beloved pets.
Contributions directly fund critical initiatives in South Lake Tahoe, such as:
• Community Pet Pantry – Distributing over 4,000 pounds of pet food, litter and supplies annually to families in need, ensuring that no animal goes hungry.
• Community Wellness Clinics – Delivering essential preventative care at 13 clinics since June 2021, providing 595 free vaccines and 272 free microchips to 384 pets—39% of which had never seen a veterinarian before.
• Community Pet Medical Grant Program – Providing $11,000 in financial assistance to 36 South Lake Tahoe families over the last two years facing barriers to urgent veterinary care, ensuring every pet receives the attention they deserve.
• Low-Cost Community Spay/Neuter – Offering free and affordable spay/neuter surgeries to over 600 pets at little to no cost for qualified, low-income residents in South Lake Tahoe, from Glenbrook to Meyers, to help control pet overpopulation.
Monthly donations can be thought of as a subscription to change lives—each gift, regardless of size, leaves a lasting impact on animals who need it most. Plus, all donations are tax-deductible, making it a win-win for you and our furry friends. Join us in this mission to uplift our community and provide the care our pets deserve.
