SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The forecasts held this week, with several inches of snow falling at Lake Tahoe and over a foot at the passes. As people start clearing out Thursday morning, there are some road controls to keep an eye on.

US50 over Echo Summit is closed until about 11 a.m. for avalanche control. Crews are working hard to clear the road despite the heavy snow.

SR89 at Emerald Bay is closed.

SR88 is closed at the Carson Spur, west of Kirkwood.

As of 10 a.m., chain controls start on US50 just above Placerville.

All roads beside Emerald Bay are open at this time, but chain controls are in place.

Heavenly is reporting 13″ of new snow, Sierra-at-Tahoe 18″, Mt. Rose 16″, Palisades Tahoe 22″.

The forecast for South Lake Tahoe calls for some lingering snow today.
