Six U.S. athletes will compete in the FIS Freeride World Tour Finals and 30th Anniversary Xtreme Verbier, and one of them is South Lake Tahoe’s Molly Armanino. The race will take place on Thursday, March 20 at Bec des Rosses, Verbier, Switzerland, and live coverage begins at 1:45 a.m. PDT.
In Ski Women, Justine Dufour-Lapointe (CAN) and Astrid Cheylus (FRA) are locked in a tight battle with Swiss rider Jenna Keller on a late-season charge and ready to compete in front of her home crowd. Molly Armanino (USA),Vice-Champion of the 2023 Freeride World Tour season, heads into the Finals in fourth place with her eyes on another podium. Lily Bradley (USA) returns to the Bec for the first time since 2022 after making a late-season push for the Finals in a show-stopping victory in the Fieberbrunn Pro.
Noémie Equy (FRA) has already secured the Snowboard Women’s title, but in the remaining categories, everything is still to play for. In Ski Men, Marcus Goguen (CAN) leads the standings yet the title is far from decided. Ross Tester (USA), currently ranked 8th, returns to The Bec after taking home second in the 2022 Xtreme Verbier and third overall in the 2022 season. After finishing fifth overall in 2023 and taking a season off in 2024, fans are eager to see what the veteran will bring. Toby Rafford (USA) gears up for his Xtreme Verbier debut as the rookie heads into the Finals in 6th place, looking to bring his unique creative style to the iconic Bec des Rosses.
Victor de Le Rue (FRA) remains at the top in Snowboard Men as he chases a record-breaking fourth FWT title, but he still needs a strong result to claim it. Liam Rivera (SUI) and Cody Bramwell (GBR) have been unstoppable in the last two events, making them serious contenders heading into the final showdown. FWT veteran Holden Samuels (USA) enters the Finals in fifth place after two podiums this season. He’s joined by Michael Mawn (USA), currently in seventh place, who returns to the Bec after taking third in the 2024 Xtreme Verbier.
