SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) STACS Officer Hazelet attempted to make contact with a local transient, 43-year-old Dominic Biasi on March 11 near the Y. STACS is the South Tahoe Area Collaborative Services portion of the police department that responds to homeless and transient situations in the community.

Biasi was on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) – people placed on PRCS have been released from state prison and remain under supervision by county probation, rather than state parole.  When Officer Hazelet attempted to stop Biasi, he fled from on his bicycle, a violation of his PRCS terms.

Officer Hazelet obtained a warrant for Biasi’s arrest. 

The following day, March 12, SLTPD Officer Simpson was on routine patrol and conducted a check under the Upper Truckee bridge.  Officer Simpson located Biasi and arrested him.  Biasi allegedly had in his possession drug paraphernalia, various weapons, pepper spray, and an imitation firearm, all of which he is prohibited from possessing. 

Biasi was booked into El Dorado County jail for resisting/delaying a peace officer, possession of unlawful paraphernalia, unlawful possession of tear gas (pepper spray), and violation of his PRCS. He is currently housed in the jail in South Lake Tahoe with no bail.
