March 21 UPDATE: The victim in Thursday’s fatal crash has been identified as Brian Vasquez-Gonzalez of Carson City. He had been a passenger in the front seat of the Subaru that had been struck by the driver of the Toyota Tacoma who went into the wrong lanes near Spooner Summit. NHP will release more information on Monday.

.LAKE TAHOE, Nev. – One person has died after a driver ended up in the wrong lane on US50 near Glenbrook Thursday morning. The Nevada State Police Highway Division (NHP) has completed its preliminary investigation, and they report the driver of a Toyota Tacoma heading in an eastbound direction on the highway near Douglas County Mile Marker 10 ended up in the westbound lanes, colliding with the driver of a Subaru Crosstrek at approximately 6:57 a.m. The driver of the Subaru was heading west in the correct lane.

There is one confirmed fatality but NHP is not releasing their name, or what vehicle they were in until the next of kin has been notified. Three others were injured, one being transported to the hospital on a medical helicopter and the others by ambulance.

Three people were in one of the vehicles, and the other was occupied by one person.

The current status of the three injured people is unknown at this time.

NHP says impairment is a factor in the collision.

US50 was closed for a few hours as the scene was cleared and an investigation was completed. When more information is released this story will be updated.
