SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The South Lake Tahoe City Council meeting on Tuesday starts with a special closed session beginning at 1:30 p.m. They will have a conference with legal counsel after a judge overturned Measure T. The City had litigation against them on their implementation of the measure that banned vacation home rentals in the city’s neighborhoods – the South Lake Tahoe Property Owners Group v.erses the City of South Lake Tahoe.

At 3 p.m., the Council and Planning Commission will have a joint meeting. The only agenda item for that meeting is the required two hours of training in general ethics principles and ethics laws relevant to public service.

The regular session of City Council will begin at 5:30 p.m.

On that agenda:

The Council will discuss and vote on the purchase of property adjacent to Fire Station 3 from BMO Bank. The 73,108 square feet of real property is for sale at $940,000. The purchase was on a previous agenda but research on the lots involved showed almost 15,000 square feet is unbuildable, and that will be retired with the purchase. The land will be used to expand and update the 68-year-old fire station.

They will vote on establishing an electric vehicle (EV) charging rate for public chargers the city owns at $0.4108 per kWh. They will also discuss and EV parking ordinance.

The Fiscal Year 2024-2025 mid-year budget review is also on the agenda.

Council will also be discussing, and possibly approving the South Tahoe Transit JPA’s
startup budget and amending the allocated permanent position listing to add a
transportation manager and accountant positions.
