SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – It will be a warm day around Lake Tahoe Wednesday, but the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has issued a Lake Wind Advisory for Lake Tahoe from 2 p.m. Wednesday through 8 p.m. Thursday. Expect southwest winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph and waves 2 to 4 feet on Lake Tahoe on Wednesday. On Thursday, southwest winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph with wave heights 2 to 5 feet.

The winds come ahead of the next weather system which is forecast to bring rain and snow to the region as we enter the first week of April. The current trends point toward a wetter, windier pattern with a potential moderate atmospheric river mid-next week.
