SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Jakob Bowe, a junior at South Tahoe High, is raising funds to help pay for a four-week summer program at UCLA that he was accepted into. COSMOS (California State Summer School for Mathematics and Science) has several different focuses, and Jakob will be taking part in the program, Exploring the Evolution of Animal Form: from Fossils to Embryos.

School counselor Kim Ilvento recommended Jakob for the program, and it surprised the Tahoe teen that he was accepted.

“This was not a surprise to my counselor or parents,” Jakob said. “My counselor told my mom this is huge and that the program only has a 15 percent acceptance rate. I’m still shocked I got in!”

To be accepted, students must carry a 3.5 GPA and higher and must have achieved academic excellence.

To help Jakob attend, a GoFundMe has been set up with a goal of $4,000. Click HERE for that campaign.
