The Pay it Forward Project would like to recognize April 20 as a special day and remind our community that Monday is National Volunteer Appreciation Day. This is part of Volunteer Appreciation Week and is recognized during the week of April 19 – 25, 2026.
The South Lake Tahoe community is so fortunate to have so many organizations that make our community a special place to live. Community nonprofits and volunteer-based foundations that are dedicated to improving our schools, our environment, and many other aspects of our community’s success. This makes all of our lives better and helps those in need, as well as improves opportunities available for our youth.
This could not be done without the commitment and hard work of so many who volunteer their time to make a big difference in reaching out and participating in community projects and assisting those in need.
So today, we encourage everyone to reach out and thank a volunteer, especially those community organizations that depend on volunteers to help accomplish the important work they do.
We also encourage everyone to get out this summer and volunteer for a couple of hours to help some of the great organizations that make a positive difference for all of us. Spring is here, and it is time to get outside, make a positive difference, and meet some like-minded people making improvements in our community.
Our thanks to all who are volunteering and building a better community
