RENO, Nev. – A woman who stopped on I-580 Saturday morning to render aid after witnessing a single-car crash died from injuries sustained after another driver hit her, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP).
According to the NHP preliminary report, a single vehicle crash occurred in the southbound lanes of I-580 just south of the Mt. Rose Highway at approximately 2:15 a.m. April 26. The Good Samaritan stopped to provide help when another vehicle traveling southbound entered the crash scene, striking the originally crashed vehicle and the Good Samaritan, whose name has not been released. NHP says she was an adult female.
The woman was pronounced deceased on the scene by medical personnel.
Impairment is suspected of the driver of the originally crashed vehicle and the driver of the vehicle that entered and crashed into the original crash. Both of those drivers were arrested and booked into the Washoe County Jail.
