SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Join the Lake Tahoe Historical Society (LTHS) as they present the second part of “From Lake Tahoe School to Lake Tahoe Unified” on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the South Tahoe Association of Realtors building, 2307 James Avenue, South Lake Tahoe.

Larry Lambdin, retired LTUSD teacher and LTHS museum volunteer, will share a
PowerPoint presentation of his legacy project about early education on the south shore. In April, he presented 1881 to 1951, and on May 19, he will present 1952 to the present.

Before there was a Lake Tahoe Unified School District, another school system existed, made up of one-room schoolhouses, a warehouse, and a barn. Students rode the train to school. It was the Lake Valley School District.

Who were the people involved?
Who were the students?
Why did the Lake Valley School District end?

Learn the answers to these questions in Part II of Larry’s presentation.

The presentation is free, and refreshments will be served. All are welcome.

If you have photos or memorabilia from your school days in South Lake Tahoe,
please share them at this gathering.

All are welcome. Refreshments will be served.

The History Museum is now open on Saturdays only from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
